 ♝ . . . FAQ . . . . . If you want to contact a mod, please contact us here. WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT SKAIA DIVIDE to get you started ♞ . . . PLAYER WHAT IS SKAIA DIVIDE? Skaia Divide is a single-fandom role playing musebox based on Homestuck. Recently, we went through some pretty huge changes! You can read about them HERE, but here is the jist of it: Skaia Divide operates in a similar way to video games, in that the setting changes on a semi-frequent basis. Each setting change within SD is very similar to moving up a level. To clarify: characters are currently on what would be Level One AKA Skaia. They will move onto a new Level/Setting once completing a series of assorted assigned tasks! Tasks can vary in difficulty and length of time - typically characters will spend up to 2-3 months on one level while completing several tasks assigned by SD's NPC. SD works as a semi-closed community, wherein we use the main community for memoboards, pesterlogs, action and prose. While we prefer entries to be members locked, it isn't really a big deal if you don't bother. We do insist that anything that is not safe for work be members locked, however! WHAT KIND OF SETTINGS/TASKS ARE AVAILABLE? Settings available will be (mostly) loosely based of Homestuck settings! For example, Level One's setting (Prospit, Derse and Skaia) is an exaggerated version of their canon counterparts. Prospit and Derse are comically stacked full of towers and Skaia itself is bigger. In order to get to the next Level, characters may expected to do things such as achieve God Tier and defeat the enemy side! Other settings could include individual SBURB/SGRUB planets, actual home planets and places such as Doc Scratch's house. Tasks will grow in difficulty with every progression. As mods, we appreciate player input too! If you would like to suggest a setting or a task, then you can do so at our SUGGESTION page. WHO CAN BE PLAYED? We are currently only accepting Homestuck characters! Any character featured in Homestuck in applicable. We only accept ONE version of characters unless they have Sprite counterparts or canon alternate universe counterparts (IE: Roxy and Mom Lalonde/Rose and Mom Lalonde). We accept OC's and Fantrolls on the basis that you can dedicate the time to fleshing them out and can provide mods with a bit of back story and information so we know the gist of what we're working with. For more information on what we're looking for, please see our APPLICATIONS page. IS THERE A CHARACTER LIMIT? At the moment we're being pretty lenient, but we're asking that you only commit if you have the time! HOW DO I RESERVE/APP/DROP? Skaia now works on a reserve and app system! Reserves and applications can be made at the RESERVES ppage. Applications should be posted under your top level reserve comment. If you are re-apping you are free to use previous Skaia posts as your samples. To drop, please visit our DROP POST. WHAT ABOUT ACTIVITY? So we've covered apps, let's cover activity. One of our first rules is that there is no formal activity check. Instead we have a monthly check in post that will be posted up at ![[community profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/community.png){kind=small} sylladexes. We ask you to be responsible. Don't take up more characters than Terezi can chew, and don't idle out. If you see staying active is becoming a chore, or you've lost interest, then consider that others might like to give that character a shot too, and take the reasonable decision. We ask for quite a lot of character-implication. True, the game can often go through down-times due to conflicting schedules or complex plots that require being finished before carrying on, but if you've taken up a character two months ago and posted with them exactly zero times, you are squatting. Don't be rude, don't do it.CAN I CANON UPDATE MY CHARACTER WITHOUT RESTARTING THEM? Yes, you can. We ask that you communicate with either of the mods when you wish to update your character's knowledge of canon events, however, as there is a time limit between each update in order to avoid multiple updates in a month's time. Once you get the green light from us, this is what happens: your character gets an ominous migraine. When they attempt to sleep it off, their body remains in either their bed or recuperacoon, but their 'mind' is transported into the body that we see in the webcomic itself. They are never gone for longer than one night/day's sleep. However, if you want them to be gone longer, this update can happen if your character is scheduled to die or run out of enough energy to spiral into a longass sleep. ♜ . . . CHARACTER HOW DO CHARACTERS COMMUNICATE? Characters have laptops/husktops available to them. Their sylladex are available too, for convenience. Laptops and husktops have the following features available for communication:
View portals are currently disabled on Trollian. WHAT IS AVAILABLE WITHIN CHARACTERS WARDROBES? Characters are currently equipped with Rumminov's Fancy Dreamer designs. In their wardrobe's they have one back up outfit and one traditional set of dreamer pajamas for the time being. More options will be available with every setting change. WHERE DOES EVERYONE DO THEIR LAUNDRY? It has been universally agreed that everyone does their laundry in the palaces! If you are on Derse after recent plot updates -- well. You're going to go stinky for a while. CAN MY CHARACTER DIE? Yes! Death is not permanent, however, but it does come with consequences. Upon dying, your character will be visited by a manifestation of the horrorterrors. They will offer a trade in exchange for life: a memory. We will be letting you as a mun pick which memory your character will be giving up, but the horrorterrors will give your character three choices. They might not like it, but that's what happens when you die! Something of interest to note is that memory is not the same as feelings. Whereas your character can choose to forget why they viciously hate another character, upon returning to life the might notice that the feelings are still there. This can lead to potential information manipulation from any side, and many other shenanigans. Up to you, bros. IS EATING NECESSARY? Of course it is. However, food sources depend on the circumstances. For example, on Prospit, the food is delivered to each dream tower from the palace (in a determined quantity). On Derse, food is also produced in the palace, but Dersites will need to deal with the Condesce's rule over that territory if they want food. Likewise, Prospitians only receive a certain amount of food from the palace, so if they are harbouring fugitives from Derse, they should learn to rationize. Lastly, rainbow drinkers should...find themselves some rainbo volunteers, obviously. ♚ . . . PLOT IS THERE A GREATER EVIL? Yes! More on that later, however, as it isn't plot relevant nor fleshed out yet. WHO IS LEADING EACH OPPOSING SIDE? This section is under construction for the time being! HOW DOES MY CHARACTER REACH GODTIER/REACTIVATE GODTIER ABILITIES? In SD, the path to godtier works in reverse. To encourage our war theme, god tiers powers are capped upon your character waking up. They can be unlocked bit by bit by keeping a kill count of enemy forces your characters have killed. If your character has not reached godtier yet, they can do so by reaching x amount on their kill count. This sort of works like a video game -- just think of your kill count as being your power upgrade bar! QUEST BEDS WITHIN SD AND THEIR PURPOSE? After the required amount of kills has been reached on your characters kill count, your character has a certain amount of time to reach their quest bed for the godtier transformation to take place. It's up to you whether they reach it or not! Your character needn't die, just be on their quest bed before there time runs out. If they miss there chance, they will have to reach a new number on their kill count before they can try again! |
